For speed-fanatics there is nothing better than riding a jetski. And with a backdrop like the skyline of Abu Dhabi, the whole experience should simply not be missed.

You can chose between riding and jumping the waves outside in the open sea or just stay in the artificially created breakwaters of the corniche. There is something for every taste. You can even add a little sightseeing to your jetski ride and pass by the Presidential Palace or the iconic Emirates Palace Hotel.

RENTING IS EASY

Renting a jet ski is not a big deal in Abu Dhabi. You only need to show your passport or Emirates ID and the driver must be above 16 years old. After a short introductory training, you are set to go.

The numerous canals and protected offshore islands are ideal for jet skiing, both for professionals and for beginners. If you want to test your limits, you can of course steer your jet ski to the open sea and prove your skills on higher waves.

The jet skis are being offered in various designs, engine power and prices. They are mostly supercharged with 1100ccm, 1800ccm and 1800ccm. Those who value performance and speed should fork out a bit more money and better opt for one of the more powerful models.

The ideal starting point for a jet ski ride is Al Bateen in Abu Dhabi. The jetty is poular with locals and they should know best. From here you can access many sheltered canals without having to drive across the open sea. But, of course, the open sea with its many sandy isalnds and shallow waters are easily accessibly too. With some luck you might even spot some dolphins in the area around the Presidential Palace or beside Al Maya Island.

The protected canal at Lulu Island is also directly accessible from Al Bateen Here, the water is usually flat and ideal for testing the maximum speed. Of course only for those who dare ....

Prices across the city vary, with the hotel rentals being the most expensive and Mina Harbor being the cheapest. We strongly recommend to opt for the middle and book with a reliable Jet Ski operator. After all, you dont want your holidays being spoiled by having to pay for scratches you never caused or being stranded out in the open sea with a broken engine.
